She has considerable public sector experience and for 16 years was chief executive of an influential and highly regarded educational charity.

Serena was Chairman The Philological Foundation, where she was the University College London nominated Trustee and was previously Chief Executive Hanover Foundations, a leading educational charity. Formerly, a Trustee Diocese of Ely Multi-Academy Trust, Member Civilian Committee 1094 (Ely) Squadron ATC, Member Ely College Academy Council, Governor Ermine Street Church Academy, Member Ely College Rapid Improvement Board and an Executive Director Hanover Partnership. Serena is approved by DfE as a sponsor for secondary academies.

Serena has specialised in promoting the wellbeing agenda and in helping build personal skills designed to integrate within apprenticeship frameworks. She has successfully combined commercial and academic careers, and recently coauthored a Level 2 Award in interpersonal skills, which has been accredited by QCA.

As a shareholder/director, Serena has built and developed companies in the UK and Middle East and has acted as adviser to start-ups and developing businesses. She has specialised in advising women entrepreneurs within both existing organisations and in new ventures.

Serena set up a highly successful art consultancy working with FTSE 100 companies.

Lived and worked in Middle East for 10 years, where she ran a number of successful organisations.
