Since her appointment to the post of Chief Executive of Business in the Community in 1992, Julia Cleverdon has established a formidable reputation as a renowned leader and speaker on corporate social responsibility and has been responsible for introducing new thinking and action from within the UK’s top boardrooms. Julia was awarded the CBE in 1996 and CVO in 2002 and is listed by The Times as one of the 50 most influential women in Britain. Julia’s voluntary roles include director of ‘In Kind Direct’, Governor of Henley Management College, Trustee of Timebank, patron of the Helena Kennedy Bursary Scheme, patron of Volunteer Reading Help and an Ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund.

Mark Collier is a leader with an impressive record of success in creating winning businesses in the retail and institutional sectors of the securities and financial services industries. Mark founded Investia as Chairman and CEO in January 1999, a company he subsequently sold. He previously held the position of President of Charles Schwab Europe and Co-CEO of Schwab International. Prior to appointment to Schwab, Mark worked with Fidelity in Europe and the USA, where he became President of the Fidelity Investment Adviser Group in Boston. In addition to his business responsibilities, Mark is strongly interested in local community issues and committed to sustainability in the environment.

Lynne Dobney is a highly respected name in branding and design, having successfully managed leading businesses including Newell and Sorrell as Managing Director and Interbrand as COO prior to her post at Fortune Street. Lynne is actively involved in the promotion and development of the industry and, in 2002, she co-founded the London Design Festival, now in its very successful third year. Lynne is a qualified business coach and continues to exercise oversight on branding and communications at the London Design Festival. She is an active member of the cross-party parliamentary group for Design & Innovation and past Chairman and Director of the Design Business Association.

Philippa Foster Back has over 25 years of business experience spanning Citibank NA, Bowater as Group Treasurer, DG Gardner Group as Group Finance Director, and Thorn EMI as Group Treasurer.  Philippa was appointed the Director of IBE in August 2001. She holds a number of external appointments, including a seat on the Defence Management Board and chair of the Defence Audit Committee at the Ministry of Defence, the board of the Institute of Directors, and the Association of Corporate Treasurers where she was President from 1999 to 2000. In 2002 Philippa was appointed a Commissioner of the Public Works Loan Board. She is a Trustee of the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust reflecting a deep personal interest in the history and exploration of the Polar Regions.

Previously Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the BBC, having started as a presenter/reporter with BBC Regional News, London. In CSR, Michael moved the BBC from 42nd in Business in the Community index of top companies' performance on CSR, to the top 20 in two years (2005). He is a Trustee of Volunteering England and a non-executive Director for British Telecom on the Community Support Committee. Michael is also Chairman of Crime Concern, a former Commissioner with the Commission for Racial Equality, Chairman of Childnet International and SpringBoard for Children, a founding member of the Metropolitan Police Advisory Committee, and has served on the Government’s Social Security Advisory Committee. In 1986, he began work with the Downing Street Policy Unit on race and urban policy, starting his career in education and community initiatives. Michael was awarded the CBE in 2002, and sits in the House of Lords as a Crossbench Peer.

Colette Hill has built her consultancy, CHA, as a centre of excellence in workplace communication. Prior to founding CHA in 1993, Colette was a director of Handel Communication and, before that, divisional director at the Shandwick-owned Paragon. An occasional speaker on the power of employee engagement, Colette is chairman of the Insight Panel, a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the Internal Communications Association and a fellow of the RSA. Richard Wolff was formerly Chairman of Marks and Spencer Outlet Limited responsible for all International operations. Previous roles in Marks and Spencer included Director of Stores at Brooks Brothers (USA) and Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chairman. Richard has over 30 years experience in retail, having joined Marks and Spencer from College, progressing through UK Stores to become Retail Director, later completing the Harvard Advanced Management Programme
